The Israeli military says a ballistic missile from Yemen has triggered sirens at several communities in the Israeli-occupied territories, as Yemeni Armed Forces launch operations in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and amid Iran’s retaliatory strikes against sensitive Israeli installations.

The pan-Arab al-Mayadeen television news channel, citing a spokesperson for the Israeli military, reported that sirens sounded in the Negev region on Monday, warning of incoming missile fire.

The military went on to claim that its anti-air missile systems intercepted the projectile.

Israel's Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency response service said it has yet to receive any reports of injuries.

The operation came just a day after the Yemeni army in a statement claimed responsibility for launching missile attacks toward the Israeli-occupied lands.

“In support of the Palestinian and Iranian peoples, and in response to the crime of starvation and thirst perpetrated by the Zionist enemy against our brethren in the Gaza Strip, the Yemeni Armed Forces' missile force carried out a military operation targeting sensitive Israeli enemy targets in the occupied Tel Aviv area, using many hypersonic ballistic missiles at various times over the past 24 hours,” Yemeni military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree said in a televised statement.

“This operation was coordinated with the operations carried out by the Iranian army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps against the criminal Israeli enemy,” Saree added.

The Yemeni military spokesperson vowed that the Arab nation would continue to launch missile attacks against Israeli-occupied territories until “the war and blockade on Gaza end.”
